New York City’s Madison Square Garden reverberated with chants of “Thank you John Cena” as the WWE icon made his final appearance on Monday Night Raw. The event marked a bittersweet moment for fans as they bid adieu to one of wrestling’s most polarizing yet inspiring figures.

John Cena, who debuted on WWE Smackdown in 2002, has enjoyed a monumental career, securing 17 world titles and numerous other accolades. His last Raw appearance was nothing short of spectacular, providing the audience with a memorable show.

The atmosphere in Madison Square Garden was electric as Cena’s signature trumpets blared. Addressing the crowd, he expressed his gratitude to New York City and the iconic venue, saying, “Madison Square Garden allowed me to step on the stage of these hallowed halls for 23 years. Tonight there is a little extra enthusiasm in the air, because tonight is the last time we can talk together. Bittersweet moment for some, but it is a very important moment for me.”

However, the nostalgic mood was quickly disrupted by Dominik Mysterio, whom Cena defeated the previous week to claim the Intercontinental Championship. Mysterio, embracing his ‘heel’ persona, accused Cena of receiving an undeserved opportunity. Seeking retribution, Mysterio summoned the rest of the Judgement Day faction.

Finn Balor and JD McDonagh joined Mysterio in attacking Cena, but Sheamus and Rey Mysterio intervened, leading to a six-man tag-team match. The ensuing brawl saw Cena, Sheamus, and Mysterio showcasing their signature moves, even paying tribute to each other by executing some of their famous finishers.

Prior to the event, Cena expressed his sentiments about his final Monday Night Raw. “I am ready to have a great show, and I don’t want to be in any other position. I don’t want to get lost in my own sauce. There are 16000 people out there, and I need to make sure they are happy. I will have plenty of time to self-reflect when I am done with this,” he stated.

Looking ahead, John Cena is scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio at the upcoming Premium Live Event (PLE), Survivor Series. Having already achieved the WWE Grand Slam by defeating Mysterio, Cena’s farewell tour will culminate in his final match during Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

Throughout his farewell tour, Cena has experienced a range of character shifts, turning ‘heel’ and then reverting to a ‘face’. He has also faced formidable opponents, including Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and AJ Styles.

The identity of John Cena’s final opponent is currently being determined through The Last Time Is Now tournament. Rusev, Sheamus, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, and Gunther have already secured their places in the quarterfinals, with two spots remaining.

The outpouring of emotion and respect from the New York crowd underscores John Cena’s profound impact on the world of professional wrestling. His legacy as a 17-time world champion and a dedicated performer will undoubtedly endure for years to come.
