The film has already sold over 300,000 tickets through BookMyShow, with Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Jaipur, Patna, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Surat leading the charge. Film trade expert Taran Adarsh describes ‘Gadar 2’ as a “lottery for distributors and producers,” emphasizing its appeal to the masses. He projects an opening day collection exceeding Rs 35 crore, citing the film’s strong emotional resonance and recall value.
Adarsh highlights the film’s ability to connect with audiences on an emotional level, stating, “Gadar is not an ordinary film. It is an emotion. Emotions and drama can never go out of fashion… even today’s generation is aware that when Sunny Deol lifts a hand pump, it is believable.”
Film producer and trade analyst Girish Johar echoes this sentiment, expressing confidence in ‘Gadar 2’s’ performance in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. He estimates the film has secured over 4,000 screens and predicts an opening day collection of approximately Rs 25 crore, with potential for growth based on positive word-of-mouth.

Despite this, awareness levels remain positive, and Johar anticipates an opening of Rs 8-10 crore. ‘OMG 2’ has sold 45,000 tickets on BookMyShow.
The simultaneous release of ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’ poses a challenge to the continued success of Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’ Trade analysts suggest that programming issues may arise as theaters adjust to accommodate the new releases. Girish Johar notes that ‘Rocky Aur Rani’ faced initial challenges due to its release alongside ‘Oppenheimer’ and needs to maintain sufficient screen presence to capitalize on the holiday weekend if the new releases underperform.
In South India, the competition is fierce between Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ and Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bhola Shankar.’ Film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi anticipates ‘Jailer’ to achieve one of the best opening box office figures in Tamil cinema history. BookMyShow has already sold 900,000 tickets for ‘Jailer,’ with southern states leading in sales.
“In Tamil Nadu and the Tamil-speaking belt across the country, Jailer is looking like an absolute storm. The kind of advance bookings that you see around the film is unprecedented. It is possibly on its way of becoming one of the highest-opening Tamil films of all time. A huge Huge buzz there,” Rathi said.
Rathi advocates for the simultaneous release of films across different languages and genres, arguing that it can better satiate the number of screens available in the country. He believes that a diverse selection of content caters to a wider audience and promotes overall cinema attendance.
